Why does CBLL.net Look like this?

Like a vast number of other web sites on the Web, CBLL.net uses CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) technology to present the pages. Your browser either could not find or does not support the CSS code.

You can continue to use this page as it is, it will work fine. If you would prefer to have a better experience you can download the latest version of a modern web browser. The major browsers should render the page well. Others should also do fine as long as they support CSS.

Wind Energy!

Although it happened yesterday, a massive thunderstorm, fueled by the intense summer heat and humidity, rolled through Central Pennsylvania. This storm was odd in the fact that it moved from the northeast, instead of the southwest. The storm was so large that it affected 3 or 4 counties all at the same time. Snyder County, where I am, saw barely any rain from the storm but we sure as heck got the wind! The gusts of wind were amazingly strong. They completely trashed our neighbor's backyard setup. My cable internet was out for about 3 hours, as the cable system around here seems to be very sensitive during summer storms. The electricity however, is rock solid...with underground distribution lines and the fact that the coal burner is only about a mile away.

Our neighbors trashed backyard

The picnic table umbrella was picked up by the wind and was whipped across the fish pond, knocking down the American flag and plants in its path. The wooden frame snapped when the wind threw it against the ground. The swing was picked up and knocked against the side of the house. The picnic table itself was overtuned along with one of its chairs.

The bulk of the storm passed through Columbia and Northumberland Counties, which were hit much harder. Two houses in Selinsgrove, on the "Isle of Que" along the river, suffered from trees falling into them. The Isle of Que is like California and Florida...Beauty comes at a price. The Isle of Que is flooded severely quite often due to it being so low and surrounded by Penn's Creek and the Susquehanna.

Storms Wreak Havoc

Also, as of today I have been running the Summer 2005 Photo Blog for one month. It doesn't seem like that long...
